In advance of what we thoroughly expect to be an epic Comic-Con presentation (that, or we’ll be thoroughly disappointed), Warner Bros. has released a bevy of new photos from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (via EW).
Naturally, since we’re still about nine months away from Batman v Superman‘s March 26, 2016 release date, these photos do little to add detail to our general concept about the movie’s plot. Superman (Henry Cavill) has raised a lot of hackles after the events of Man of Steel, so Batman (Ben Affleck) – older and more embittered than usual – decides to keep him in check. Fighting ensues, and somehow Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) get involved as well.
What most interests us about these images isn’t what appears to be a sexy dance between Batman and Wonder Woman (in their civilian garb, since that would just be weird otherwise), it’s the shot of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. We already know he shaved his head to play the billionaire arch-nemesis of Superman, but here he is anyway with fabulous blonde locks, halfway removed from a Fabio book cover.
Which means there are only two possibilities: either Batman and Superman decide to get their revenge on the manipulative super-genius at the end of Batman v Superman by shaving his head in a climactic prank (not likely), or once again we find ourselves with a cinematic version of Lex Luthor who wears wigs instead of letting his studly chrome dome fly. It’s probably a way to show just how insecure Luthor really is – he’s always been threatened by Superman’s machismo, after all – but just once it would be nice for a Superman movie to admit that baldness is nothing to be ashamed of, and in fact is actually something that many people find quite sexy.
We expect to see more of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next week at Comic-Con, but until then, take a gander at this new images from the production, and come up with your own theories about why Lex Luthor thought that hair was a good idea.
