No Rest For The Nerdy – Vol. 8

A whole lot of Bulletstorming this weekend. Also, hockey and Words with Friends.

No Rest For The Nerdy - Vol. 8

We never stop playing video games. That’s a fact. Even after we call it quits for the week we still look forward to getting home and continuing our digital conquests. It’s our life blood. So we thought it would be fun to share with everyone what our gaming intentions are for the weekend so you guys can get a sense of what we’re playing and enjoying on a weekly, non-formal basis. Yes, this concept isn’t new to the internet. But hey, we kind of want to join in on the fun. Can you blame us for that? So without further ado, here’s what we’re playing this weekend that will forfeit any semblance of rest…

joeyJoey Davidson: Bulletstorm, Bulletstorm, Bulletstorm.

I love it, I’m reviewing it for Crave. I’ll have the game whip-kicked into shape by Monday. Until then, consider this a weekend of complete badassery of the best variety. The game is lewd, crude and a hell of a lot of fun. And, Fox News was wrong. The game hasn’t convinced me I need to rape someone yet.

I’m also rolling through NHL 11. Secret’s out: I haven’t told Erik yet, but the Short Bus crew reunited last night for another round of hockey. Maybe when the jerk gets back from LA with our former comics editor Joey Esposito, he’ll strap in and join us.

erikErik Norris: Joey, you bitch. Way to let me know about the hockey team reforming. What? A man gives up six goals in a single period as the goalie and now he’s ostracized?

To bring this back on point, I honestly don’t have any gaming plans this weekend. I’m out visiting our former Comic Editor Joey Esposito on the West Coast and outside some probable drunk Rock Band, I don’t plan to spend much time in front of a television hammering buttons. But then again, I do have some long plane flights scheduled, maybe some iPhone games are in order.

But even if I’m not playing games this weekend, I will be thinking and dreaming about playing them. I want to get back home and continue Bulletstorm. Joey’s absolutely right; Bulletstorm is a hilariously awesome good time. Like Joey, I, too, am not feeling the urge to get my rape on.

alex_blurbAlex Keen:  Like Erik, my plans are very light this weekend.  I’ve been watching a lot more Blu-rays than playing games recently.  I was hoping to try out some of the XBLA titles but that just doesn’t seem to be in the cards.  Perhaps I will finally buy those Defense Grid add-ons I have been avoiding for months.

I did get e-mailed a beta code to play APB, but unless Mike White is playing this, I really doubt that I’ll redeem it. It would make sense for me to play because of my love of Crackdown and Auto Assault; however, I just don’t see my life allowing me to devout more and more time to an MMO.

Finally, I have been playing a ton of Words with Friends on my iPod.  Sure, that’s some casual gaming.  Scoff all you want – this game is a ton of fun to play and really easy to drop in and out of.
