Comic book movies may never get more ambitious than The Avengers, which will tie four existing film properties – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and The Hulk – together to defeat… Um, who are the bad guys again? Marvel Studios have been pretty coy so far, but Latino Review claims to have the scoop on which masters of evil will be the antagonists in Joss Whedon’s 2012 summer blockbuster: Loki… and The Skrulls?
Who are they, you ask? Geez… Learn how to read. Loki’s the Norse God of Mischief (and Evil), and the main antagonist of this summer’s epic Thor, played by Tom Hiddleston. It seems you can’t keep a good (bad) God down, and Hiddleston will return in The Avengers to terrorize our heroes alongside The Skrulls, an alien race of shapeshifters. What’s more, Latino Review claims that he’ll be using the all-powerful Cosmic Cube in his evil schemes, a device which will play a big part in not only Thor but also The First Avenger: Captain America as well.
Both Loki and The Skrulls are considered top flight Avengers villains, meaning that – if this is true – Marvel’s not afraid to pull out the big guns early in The Avengers franchise. Meanwhile, AintItCool has claimed that an Avengers teaser trailer has been shot and will premiere in front of Thor and/or Captain America this summer, which will confirm these revelations of Whedon’s big bads.
Latino Review is usually pretty reliable when it comes to these sorts of spoilers, but as always we’ll just have to wait and see.
Crave Online will return with more Avengers news as it assembles.
