Telltale's Jurassic Park Influenced by Heavy Rain

It’s been a long time since we heard any news on the Telltale Games’ developed Jurassic Park game. It was announced back in June of 2010, but was quickly overshadowed by Telltale’s Back to the Future game which was set to launch first, releasing at the tail-end of 2010.

But now that the first episode of Back to the Future is out in the wild, Telltale has started dishing on their next licensed IP project, Jurassic Park. It’s not much, but Game Informer has the latest scoop on the title which states that Telltales’ Jurassic Park episodic game takes heavy influence from Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain.

Allegedly, Universal Studios approached Telltale Games with the project because they didn’t want a standard action game or first-person shooter. Universal wanted to revive the JP license back to its former glory, focusing on the franchise’s characters and suspense. Telltale’s Jurassic Park game will have slower character-driven moments, as well as the suspenseful scares we expect. Organically branching dialogue and decision making will also factor into Telltale’s JP title, bringing the comparison to Heavy Rain once again to the forefront.

Story details were also dropped during the Game Informer piece, saying Telltale’s JP game is a sequel to the original Jurassic Park that will also tie-up some loose plot threads from the original film, stuff like where did Dennis Nedry’s embryo can disappear to? Furthermore, the game will pit players against mercenaries, smugglers, dinosaurs ( of course), and a new type of thunderous lizard with glowing red eyes.

Much like with Back to the Future, Jurassic Park will be a five-part series releasing on PC and Mac later this year.
