Clint Eastwood Remaking 'A Star Is Born' With Beyonce Knowles

Clint Eastwood’s no stranger to unexpected projects (I mean, Space Cowboys? Really?), but now he’s joined the remake bandwagon with the latest retelling of A Star Is Born. In the 1937 original, Janet Gaynor (F.W. Murnau’s Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans) played a rising starlet who falls in love with Fredric March (The Best Years of Our Lives), an alcoholic actor who jumpstarts her career just as his own is ending. The film is more famous for its various remakes, including a 1954 version with Judy Garland and James Mason, and a less-than-popular version in 1976 with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Beyonce Knowles must be hoping that the fourth time’s the charm, since she’s signed on to star in the new Eastwood-directed version. The male lead has not yet been cast, Deadline reports.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in the fall. Beyonce is no stranger to acting, although her highest profile roles have both been overshadowed by her co-stars: the feral Ali Larter in Obsessed and Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls. With critical darling and Oscar favorite Clint Eastwood at the helm, A Star Is Born is set to be a huge boost in her acting career, as long as he doesn’t cast anyone else, that is…

We’re just playing Beyonce. We’re crazy in love with you. Keep looking to CRAVE Online for more developments.
