The Nintendo 3DS launches on March 27, 2011. However, Link, Kid Icarus and Mario will not be partaking in the festivities. The 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as the new Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario 3DS titles will not be launching with Nintendo’s new 3-D enabled handheld.
In an interview with MTV, president of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime, confirmed that Ocarina of Time, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario 3DS will not make the system’s launch window of March 27 through June 7. Instead, these anticipated 3DS titles will launch sometime “after E3.”
"They’ll be ready soon, but not in that initial time period of late March through early June," Fils-Aime said. "In terms of what the hardcore gamer has to look forward to right at launch, I would say: Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, Madden, and the three first-party launch games we have as well."
Nintendo plans for 30 titles to release on the 3DS during the handheld’s launch window. The big first-party Nintendo titles will be Pilotwings Resort, Nintendogs + cats, and Steel Diver.
