A few days after Javier Bardem was offered a major role in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Bond 23 the producers are at it again, offering another significant role to Voldemort himself, Ralph Fiennes. We can’t quite put our gold finger on what part he’ll play, but here’s what an unnamed Hollywood executive told The Daily Mail:
"The part is one of extreme complexity and only an actor of great ability and dexterity can take it on – and Ralph’s name is top of our list." The Daily Mail also reports that two-time Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey was in talks to appear in Bond 23 as well, but had already committed to playing Richard III in an stage production directed by, fittingly enough, Sam Mendes. For the record, the part offered to Fiennes is different from the one offered by Javier Bardem, so fans should be able to take at least a quantum of solace in the knowledge that the beautiful, Biutiful actor isn’t in direct competition with Fiennes. Live and let die, we say.
Both American audiences and the English patiently await confirmation of this exciting casting news. It seems like only last week that Bond 23 looked like it was never happening. I guess we’ll never say never again…
CRAVE Online will return with more Bond 23 news as it develops.
