green-dayGreen Day is back to business — and has scheduled a hometown show to prove it.

The famed East Bay punk-pop band, which canceled a tour a few months back due to lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong's substance abuse problems, will perform April 16 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon Friday (Feb. 15) through Ticketmaster outlets. Pre-sale ducats are available beginning at noon Thursday. The password for the presale is "cuatro" — you can check out the Ape Concerts site for more information. Tickets are $50.

Indie-pop darlings Best Coast open the show. That's a pretty big deal, given that Best Coast's sophomore effort, "The Only Place," was one of the best albums of 2012.

Green Day will be supporting not just one, but three new studio albums — "Uno!," "Dos!" and "Tre!" Those albums were released in rapid succession, during a three-month period in late 2012.

The band had originally planned to support those albums with an intimate-venue tour, which included dates at the Fillmore in San Francisco and the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Plans were put on hold, however, after Armstrong's expletive-laced rant at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas in September. Armstrong would later seek help for substance abuse problems.
