We have seen the future and it is full of silky smooth mashed potatoes excreted out of a Slurpee machine.

Since 2009, 7-Elevens in Singapore have given their customers the option of getting a cup of mashed potatoes at the push of a button. For 2 bucks, the machine dispenses a splattery serving of blended potatoes and, for a dollar extra, a healthy heaping of chicken gravy. For those adventurous potato Slurpee fans, you can even get your taters in BBQ flavor.

The machine was created by Maggi, a company known for its powdered mashed potatoes. Once you pay up and push the button, the tasty snack mixes powdered potatoes with hot water. The result squirts out into your cup. While that doesn’t necessarily remind us of mama’s home cooking, you better believe we’d try this immediately if it popped up in the U.S.

Whether these machines will ever appear here in America is still up for debate. One thing is for sure, there’s nothing more American than mashed potatoes and gravy. Especially when it comes out of a machine at the push of a button. Better add another notch to that belt, America, your Thanksgiving sides are about to be that much easier to prepare.
