Evan Rachel Wood is an actress and singer probably best known for her roles in “Thirteen” and “True Blood,” though she has been acting since she was a child.
Evan Rachel Wood is a mix of English and Irish ancestry. Her nickname is Evie. Her parents were both actors and divorced in 1997 when Evan was nine. Her mother later became her manager.
Though born in North Carolina, Evan moved to Los Angeles with her mom and brother in 1996. Evan recalled, “It was so much fun being raised in the South. I was a tomboy, playing baseball, running around the woods; it was awesome.”
When she was five, she lost a role in “Interview With the Vampire” to Kirsten Dunst. “I was heartbroken. But that’s how I learned to deal with disappointment; it made me stronger and I never got that upset again.”

Evan Rachel Wood briefly attended junior high in the Los Angeles area but she left because she didn’t like the social environment of the school. She was homeschooled and at the age of 15 earned her high school diploma.
When she read the script for “Thirteen,” she said, “I had never really done anything like that [drugs, sex, shoplifting]. I phoned my agent and, right then, said, ‘I have to do this movie.’” She said later, “I was such a goody-two-shoes.”
She sang on the soundtrack for “Across the Universe.” She admitted in 2011 that she’s “kind of a snob when it comes to choosing films.”
In 2007, Evan Rachel Wood dated rocker Marilyn Manson. The relationship ended about a year later. She said, “I was trying everything, touring with a rock band, exploring different looks, exploring who I was sexually as a woman. I never wanted to look back and be like, ‘Oh, man, I wish when I was young I had just gone for it and hopped on that tour bus.”

In 2011, she rekindled her relationship with an old boyfriend, English actor Jamie Bell. They married in 2012. She is currently pregnant and expecting to give birth very soon. She said, “That’s the real test: if you can go away and come back. It just never went away…this thing inside both of us that felt like we needed to be together.”
Evan also came out as bisexual in 2011. "I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls…I’m into androgyny in general.” She added, “I’m more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one. I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah, I’m romantic.”
