Before she landed her career-changing role on “Fringe,” Anna appeared in “The Pacific” and the CollegeHumor Original “Can I Give You a Ticket.” She also apparently beat out over 300 other actresses for the role on “Fringe.”
Anna Torv said of her experience on the show, “I think it will be invigorating to get into somebody else’s skin. In the same breath, there’s something that happens when you work with the same people for years and years, playing the same character. You’re so relaxed, you’re not nervous anymore.”
As to being an Australian playing an American, she said, “The sensibility is so different. Sometimes I look at a line that really sticks, and I really don’t know how to deliver it. It might be right for the character, but it’s an American way that I don’t know.”
Aside from acting, her hobbies include horseback riding, surfing, swimming and hiking.
Interestingly, her aunt, also named Anna Torv, was married for 31 years to billionaire mogul Rupert Murdoch.
In 2008, Anna Torv got married to her co-star on “Fringe” Mark Valley, but the marriage was not meant to last. They separated after only a year.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard my mother fart. It just doesn’t happen.” She added, “If someone could see what I did in my twenties, I’d be mortified. But you’re supposed to go and try all that stuff, aren’t you?”
As to men, Anna said, “I don’t go to clubs or places where people go to be picked up. But if I’m out, I usually sit at the bar.”
