Sarah Shahi ("The L Word," "Life") returns to the Showcase schedule as feisty mediator Kate Reed in the season two premiere of the breakout series "Fairly Legal." The 13-episode, one-hour legal drama/comedy about a top litigator who makes a brazen career change to conflict resolution premieres next month exclusively on Showcase.

According to an official press release from Shaw Media, the pressure-filled season one finale of "Fairly Legal" saw Kate’s personal and professional lives reach a boiling point culminating in her almost ex-husband Justin ("Michael Trucco," "Battlestar Gallactica") walking out on her, and her same-aged-stepmom Lauren ("Virginia Williams," "The O.C.") firing her from the firm.

The second season will pick up where Kate left off, rejoining the family firm to continue to fight a moral crusade against the inherent injustices of the system while using any means necessary to get people what they need without going to court. With her passion for justice, legal savvy, and no-holds-barred attitude, viewers will enjoy Kate’s knack for resolving (as well as creating) conflict. The Reed & Reed law firm runs into financial troubles pushing Lauren to hire a new partner – sharp, up-and-coming trial attorney Ben Grogan ("Ryan Johnson," "Home and Away"). Despite Ben representing everything Kate loathes about lawyers, they have undeniable chemistry which causes sparks to fly and relationships to be tested.

Also returning to the Fairly Legal cast is Baron Vaughn ("Invasion") as Leonardo, Kate’s geek-chic trustworthy assistant. Gerald McRaney ("Undercovers") reprises his guest-starring role as Judge Nicastro and other guest stars this season include Mark Moses ("Desperate Housewives"), Esai Morales ("NYPD Blue"), and Barry Shabaka Henley ("FlashForward").

Look for the season 2 premiere of "Fairly Legal" on Thursday, April 5 at 10pm ET/PT on Showcase.
